Ways to Save Our Phone from Hackers

Hacking is the biggest violation of one’s personal space. Having a smartphone hacked feels like someone robbed the house. Undoubtedly, it’s a massive invasion of one’s privacy. Our phone doesn’t just hold our personal information; it also signals to intruders which data are the most important to us. Therefore, to keep our phone and its data protected always, we need to develop a smart strategy.

What are the signs that our smartphone is at risk or has been hacked?

Smartphones are continually sending and receiving signals, so hackers can easily target them. Once hacked, a person will start noticing strange things on his phone; slow speed, strange apps get installed automatically, pop-up messages, low battery issues, and much more.

Their dirty work can target phones

  • Text messages
  • Banking and shopping
  • Facebook and other social media apps
  • Email messages

Keep reading! Here are some tips for protecting our phone’s valuable information from hackers and intruders.

Update OS and apps

Have ever think why software companies are constantly updating phones software? It’s not for cosmetic reasons but for security reasons. So, one should never use a phone without updating its operating system and install it soon he or she gets the notification.

Avoid public Wi-Fi

It’s 2020, everyone should know about the security dangers of using public Wi-Fi which is open for all. We can get free Wi-Fi in cafes, airports, shopping centers or any other public venue, which is open for countless online mischief. However, it is always advisable to use private cell connection and switch off Wi-Fi on altogether whenever in a public place.

Lock smartphone when not in use

All phones have a passcode or fingerprint capability––that not everyone takes it seriously. But they should make a mix of characters and numbers, hard to judge by others.

Passwords aren’t just sufficient to protect our phone’s privacy, but peace of mind dictates that if a phone falls out of the pocket, the first person who gets it should not be able to access our private messages, facebook account, life story from our contacts, email, photos, and banking information.

Furthermore, it is advisable to change a password regularly, about every three to six months. Likewise, face ID and fingerprint scanning are convenient and fast alternatives to unlock the phone.

Never open strange texts.

Hackers send dangerous links mostly via text messages. Don’t open any texts from any number–– not familiar with–––unknown odd numbers. And if a person opens a text mistakenly then he or she shouldn’t click on any links. That’s how a virus or malware enters our device…and hackers can steal our data.

Moreover, every smartphone user must need to get into the habit of deleting texts send by strangers. For apps, we can always download from trusted Play stores.

Travel light

From personal information to documents, don’t store everything on a smartphone. A person must limit storing everything (including photos) in a Camera Roll.
