Keeping a house clean, especially with children, is a daily challenge. If we all like to have a tidy interior, it is not easy to motivate the troops when it comes to cleaning. And you would not be against a magic solution to remedy the chore of tidying up.
Good news: some habits and small daily gestures can once be integrated into your routine, save precious time.
Don’t let mail pile up
Every night when you enter the door, arms often loaded, you get into the habit of putting the mail on a corner of the furniture. Result: the letters pile up without being opened. You can install a mail organizer that will allow you to make an initial instant sorting. But it’s best to open the envelopes daily, so you don’t leave important bills or letters hanging too long.
Put your clothes in the dirty laundry basket
Rather than leaving your clothes lying on the floor, put them directly in the dirty laundry basket. Obvious? Not necessarily. Maybe you weren’t doing it because your basket was too far away. It is sometimes thought that the obvious place for dirty laundry is near the machine or in the bathroom. But if they are on the lower floor or too far from the bedroom, you lose the reflex to put your clothes on immediately.
Clear the coffee table
By letting glasses and newspapers accumulate on the coffee table, you give the whole room a false air of general disorder because this central element focuses on attention. Nothing prevents you from making a nice straight stack made up of a few magazines or beautiful books, but make it a habit to take all your little bazaar with you when you leave the living room. Ditto for the sofa: fold the plaid and readjust the cushions.
A little water on the worktop, or a few crumbs on the table. Make sure you always have something to wipe to leave your surfaces impeccable after each pass. Why not keep a few clean tea towels in different places in the kitchen and a microfiber cloth in the bathroom? So you’ll always have everything you need on hand until it becomes a reflex for every member of the family.
Leave shoes in front of the door
If you don’t want to find shoes all over the house and dirt everywhere, institute a new rule: the shoes stay in the hall.
If every family member gets into this habit, you will save a lot of floor cleaning.
No, you don’t need five bottle openers! Sort your closets regularly. When an item appears double or triple or has not been used for a few years, get rid of it. You will feel like your house is lighter and cleaner.
Likewise, regularly sort children’s clothes that are too small as well as those that you no longer wear.
Put everything back in its place
Getting into the good habit of putting each item back in its place after use saves enormous time. Avoiding the emerging mess of buildup is the style of automation that will keep your home in order.
Wash while cooking
Fill your basin or sink with hot water to put your utensils in when you cook. As you finish using them, put them directly to soak in hot water. This simple gesture will save you time and force you to wash them immediately instead of leaving them lying around.
